-Advocate-Medical Internship Opportunity

The Penwasciz program has been an active student volunteer program at Condell Medical Center for over 60
years . It gives Juniors and Seniors in high school (who are at least 16 years old) in the Lake County area the opportunity to shadow and meet health care professionals of all backgrounds. Exposure to the different careers seen can help
students better understand what a realistic day is for a health care professional. If accepted,
32 students are placed into clinical groups that participate in weekly two hour rotations shadowing
health care personnel in nursing and support services areas within the hospital. Through direct patient interactions and observations, Penwasciz can enhance the student’s hospital experience and help reinforce their desire to pursue a career in the medical field.
